When I use hypnosis for communication with the subconscious mind of one of my subjects, it always amazes me because it becomes obvious that I am not speaking to the client’s personality, but a separate entity or portion of them. I can always tell when the subconscious is answering the questions.
The subconscious mind always speaks of the subject in the third person (he or she). It is unemotional and seems to be removed or detached from the subject’s problems as if it is an objective observer looking at the issue from the outside. This is the key in using hypnosis for living life to the fullest, by freeing the subject of fear through confrontation with their higher self, and taking the sage advice provided by the subconscious mind.
The practice of hypnosis for regression gives a voice to the subconscious mind that can be recorded and absorbed consciously by the subject later. Sometimes the subconscious will chastise the person because they have not been listening to it. On occasion, the first remark the subconscious mind makes may be, “Finally, I am going to have a chance to speak! I’ve tried to talk to them for years, but they won’t listen.”
When using hypnosis for fostering a dialogue with a subject’s subconscious mind, it can be so objective in its analysis that it sometimes sounds cruel. It pulls no punches, but tells the truth about the situation as it is from its all-knowing point of view. When it finishes scolding the subject in order to get its point across, it always makes sure they how much they are loved, and tells them how proud it is of any advances they are making.
I find it interesting that the subconscious also recognizes me, and it often thanks me for putting the person into the trance state that allows this process to occur. It often speaks of itself in the plural (we), as though it is not just a single entity, but one of several involved.
No matter what subject I am working with, the subconscious mind always speaks in the same way and answers questions in the same impartial manner. Perhaps the most modern way to explain what it’s like to talk to the subconscious mind would be to liken it to communicating with a computer linked to an enormous database. This database transcends time, space and all limitations of individual consciousness.
By using hypnosis for a conversation with the subconscious, we can receive its wisdom, and make changes in our conscious mind to help live our lives with joy and wonder.
